Asian Paints prioritises a safe and healthy workplace through a structured and proactive OHS approach. Our focus extends across manufacturing operations, chemical handling, logistics and day-to-day work practices, where effective risk identification and timely intervention are critical. To address these areas in a systematic manner, our safety architecture is built around the following key pillars:
| Metric | Target 2030 | Performance in FY 2025-26 |
|---|---|---|
| Total Recordable Frequency Rate (TRFR) | </= 0.80 | 1.27 |
| Total Severity Rate (TSR) | </= 100 | 106.4 |
| Process Safety Event Rate (PSER) | </= 0.165 | 0.426 |
The above table is the safety performance at the company level including AP Global operations.
| Financial Year | Total Reportable Incident Frequency Rate | Total Reportable Incident Severity Rate | Mandays Lost | No. of Accidents | Total Manhours worked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 22-23 | 0.55 | 17.05 | 436 | 14 | 2,55,09,383 |
| 23-24 | 0.56 | 26.61 | 719 | 15 | 2,70,20,594 |
| 24-25 | 0.32 | 53.49 | 1492 | 9 | 2,78,94,855 |
| 25-26 | 0.59 | 61.21 | 1547 | 15 | 2,52,73,379 |
The above table includes data from our decorative and non-decorative business units falling under the purview of Indian Factories Act, 1948 and includes contractor data. From FY 2024-25 onwards, data for the Sleek - Pune and Wada plants has been included following their merger with Asian Paints.
It indicates the performance of units which are in addition to the units under the Independent Assurance Statement provided for the Sustainability Report.
The Safety Performance for Decorative Business Unit:
Total Reportable Incident Frequency Rate – 0.62,
Total Reportable Incident Severity Rate – 67.06,
Man-Days Lost – 1,417,
No. of Accidents – 13,
Total Man-Hours Worked – 2,11,29,393
Tier-1 process safety incidents – 8
Number of transport-related incidents – 3
In FY 2025-26, safety performance reflected the Company’s continued focus on strengthening systems, controls and leadership-led interventions across operating boundaries. At the Company level, including AP Global operations, the Total Recordable Frequency Rate stood at 1.27, while the Total Severity Rate and Process Safety Event Rate were 106.4 and 0.426 respectively. At manufacturing units in India, the Total Reportable Incident Frequency Rate increased from 0.32 to 0.59, with 15 accidents recorded, while the Total Reportable Incident Severity Rate rose from 53.49 to 61.21, along with 1,547 mandays lost. These trends were observed against a backdrop of lower total manhours worked compared to the previous year. The indicators highlight opportunities to further strengthen risk management practices, reinforce critical safety controls and enhance incident prevention efforts. The Company will continue to focus on behaviour-based safety, capability building, structured incident management and targeted interventions to drive sustained improvement in safety performance and progress towards its long-term commitments.
We manage statutory safety requirements through a structured compliance management framework that helps track legal obligations related to occupational health, process safety, fire safety and environmental regulations. The framework is supported by defined escalation mechanisms and periodic corporate compliance audits across units. These audits review statutory records, documentation, equipment certifications and operational adherence to applicable laws, regulations and codes of practice, enabling timely corrective actions and stronger regulatory discipline.
