FAP Global: environmental stewardship at the global level

Asian Paints’ international businesses operate across diverse geographies, each with distinct regulatory, climatic and operational contexts. While sustainability priorities and baselines vary across regions, our global approach remains focused on improving resource efficiency, increasing renewable energy use, conserving water and strengthening circularity in operations.

Renewable energy

During FY 2025-26, renewable energy capacity was strengthened at Oman and Sri Lanka. A 350 kWp solar power project was energised at Oman in November 2025, generating 1,98,981 kWh of renewable electricity and resulting in estimated avoided emissions of 112 tCO2e during the year. At Panadura, Sri Lanka, a 500 kWp solar power project was energised in February 2026, generating 1,25,818 kWh and resulting in estimated avoided emissions of 64 tCO2e.

Energy efficiency

UAE

Replaced a conventional air compressor with a Variable Speed Drive compressor, saving approximately 51,000 kWh annually. In addition, conventional streetlights were replaced with solar streetlights, reducing electricity consumption by about 5,500 kWh annually.

Oman

Replaced zirconia media with finer media in basket mill operations, reducing the batch cycle time from 10 hours to 6 hours and improving energy efficiency by 40%, with annual savings of 13,669 kWh. Further, conventional streetlights were replaced with solar streetlights, saving about 5,670 kWh annually.

Energy efficiency

Bahrain

Debottlenecked putty batch cycle time by 50 minutes, resulting in annual electricity savings of approximately 22,000 kWh.

Egypt

Reduced alkyd heating requirements by shortening pipeline length, lowering annual electricity consumption by about 48,000 kWh. Replacement of high-bay lights and streetlights with energy-efficient fittings further reduced electricity consumption by approximately 60,000 kWh annually.

Nepal

Implemented temperature set-point for cooling tower fans, upgraded to higher-efficiency equipment, shifted volume of few streams from steel ball mill to basket mill, and optimised chiller water circulation. These measures delivered annual electricity savings of approximately 6,864 kWh and improved operational efficiency.

Bangladesh

Implemented compressor set-point optimisation, chiller alarm automation, utility lighting sensors, pugmill timers and formulation changes to reduce avoidable equipment running and batch processing time. Together, these initiatives are estimated to reduce annual electricity consumption by approximately 21,300 kWh.

Sri Lanka

Optimised air-conditioning use in the administrative building and replaced conventional lights with solar streetlights, resulting in annual electricity savings of approximately 27,156 kWh.

Rainwater harvesting

Nepal

The rainwater harvesting system installed in FY 2024-25 using a 7,100 m² catchment area became fully operational during the FY 2025-26 monsoon season, enabling 1,346 KL of rainwater to be harvested and reused in processes.

Sri Lanka

At the Panadura plant, a roof-based rainwater harvesting system using a 2,300 m² catchment area and 10 KL storage tanks was commissioned for reuse in washrooms, enabling 390 KL of rainwater use during the year.

Rainwater harvesting

Bangladesh

At Mirsharai, a rainwater harvesting system using a 2,722 m² catchment area and 40 KL storage capacity was implemented for use in washrooms and cooling towers, enabling 60 KL of rainwater to be harvested and reused.

Across the three sites, 1,823 KL of rainwater was harvested and reused during FY 2025-26, contributing around 4% of total water use in SEA countries.

Water conservation

Oman

Orifice installation in water taps reduced annual water consumption by 216 KL.

Bangladesh

Reuse of WTP backwash and rinse water reduced freshwater intake by 900 KL annually. Sensor-based taps in the Mirsharai admin block and canteen reduced water use by 600 KL annually. Additional measures, including hand showers for trolley cleaning, hopper cleaning optimisation and reuse of hopper wash water, together conserved around 110 KL annually.

Tap and city water conservation

Nepal

Product changeover planning for dark and light shades, along with fixed machine allocation, reduced wash water generation and conserved 75 KL of water annually.

Together, these water conservation initiatives supported reduced freshwater intake, lower cleaning-related water use and improved reuse of process and utility water across key AP Global locations.
